The Pinot Noir is a prominent creation of the experience in winemaking of Les Cretes, a company founded in 1989 in the Aosta Valley, owner of 25 beautiful hectares located along the axis of the river Dora Baltea, from Saint Pierre to Saint Christophe. The production area of Les Cretes, which originates in this difficult mountain area, is characterized by a high fragmentation of the vineyards and a high plant density due to the slope of the land, whose moraine and sandy soils are ideal for growing numerous native and international varieties, as in the case of Pinot Noir. The alpine climate strongly influences the organoleptic characteristics of the local wines: the late harvested grapes undergo extreme changes in temperature due to autumnal thermal excursion (+22°C during day and 0°C at night); this phenomenon, typical of mountain areas, promotes the formation of aromatic precursors in the cluster, which greatly enrich the fragrant component of wine. The work in the vineyard of Les Cretes reflects the strong desire to minimize the phytosanitary measures, in compliance with the respect of natural production factors. With this logic was born Pinot Noir Les Cretes, produced since 1995 in La Tour, at short distance from the medieval hermitage now become the company logo on the label. The Pinot Noir grapes, in contrast with traditional methods that require the vinification in wood, here are vinified entirely in stainless steel tanks. This choice will highlight the desire of Les Cretes to create a fresh and pleasant wine, able to stand out for elegance and finesse.
